with completion in 2008. It is expected that one lane will be open on North St. A construction schedule for traffic will be posted at the Village Office.
Additionally, discussion with Benzonia appears favorable for the placement of a new water tank rather than a water tower near the intersection of Barber and Severance. The proposed tank would hold 150,000 gallons, same as the tower, would not be visible and provide adequate water flow for fire protection for the Village. More information will be in future newsletters as this project progresses.

Reminders:
- No overnight parking on the streets from November 1 st to April 1 st, regardless of weather. We need your support so crews can safely and quickly remove snow from the streets. Don’t be towed away and crews ask that landlords remind their tenants as well.
- Benzie Bus has expanded services to Traverse City; call 352-3000.
- No pets on the lake shore section of the trail except for Service animals. Please clean up after your pets whenever they are off your lot.
- The covered Pavilion in the park may be reserved for use by non-profit organizations. Please go to the web site for availability or call the Village office.
- Limited sidewalk repairs will start this fall.
Community items: looking for volunteers to help with community events, such as decorating, fairs, festivals and other community based events. Please give us your name and number on the feedback sheet if you want to help.
Recycling expanded: Recycling coordinator, Marlene Wood- Zylstra, has added a glass only container next to the other containers. Her efforts and your efforts to recycle and keep the area clean are needed and appreciated. The bins are for residents only, not for business or commercial use. Businesses that desire to use the recycling program should contact the coordinator to arrange a fee schedule & be issued a permit to participate. The bins are dumped on Monday and Friday. Pat Elliott is VP Market & Business Development for Terumo Cardiovascular Systems owned by Terumo Corporation a Japanese based company and specializes in cardiac surgery products. Pat has established his office in the newly remodeled building called "244" on Benzie Blvd. David Boekeloo of Boekeloo Financial also has his office in "244 ".
The newest downtown business owners; Mike and Cathie Bishop, Bill and Patti Cari, and Paul Cari have purchased the vacant corner building formerly known as Beulah Drugs. Following some extensive interior and exterior remodeling, the building will be re-opened under the name Five Corners, in recognition of the five intersecting streets at that location. Plans include watch and clock repair and sales, outdoor wear, bait and tackle shop, and even a walk-up window for ice cream, snacks, and assorted sundry beach items. A phased opening should begin by Christmas.

Yard Refuse and Pickup:
Village crews pick up yard refuse daily (leaves, branches, grass clippings, etc.).Branches should be tied and limited to 4 ft lengths and refuse in bags of 25 pounds or less. Christmas trees (bows tied if possible) must be left curbside for pickup, same as yard refuse.
