New Angled Parking on Benzie Blvd.
In the last newsletter, information and a diagram of the parking changes on Benzie Blvd. was shared. The new sidewalk was done in September and an additional foot of roadway was added from the former sidewalk width. Feedback from business, individuals and the Beulah Brainstorm meetings all recommended additional parking be investigated and developed. The criteria from MDOT (Michigan Department of Transportation) was reviewed and the width of Benzie Blvd. did meet MDOT's requirements. The Village Council decided to wait until the summer season was over to repair the sidewalk and then reline the street with the new angled parking. It will take time for everyone to get use to the change however, it increased parking spots on the street from 17 to 34. Village Council would like feedback from anyone: good, bad or indifferent in order to evaluate the changes. You can drop a note with your water bill, leave a message on the Village voice mail 882-4451 or leave information at the office using the mail drop slot. You can also share your thoughts on the feedback form included in this newsletter.

The lines were barely dry before angled parking became part of Benzie Blvd. on 10/7/08.
Fall Fest in Beulah was an October success
Residents and visitors enjoyed the many activities in the park, in Benzonia and the glorious weather. Smokey Bear visited, pumpkins were decorated, animals were petted and bouncing was popular too. How to make apple cider was demonstrated, hoops were hula'd and vendors shared their wares.
The Park and streets were full of visitors and families. The Park & Shine Car Show was new this year with over 30 cars parked at the Village Trailer Park . Awards were made to the following: |
- Best in Show: Paul Rickman's '33 Buick
- Sheriffs: Lester Ely's ‘36 Chevy Business Coupe
- Fire Dept: Tom & Kelli Charter's '69 Chevelle
- CLCBA: Jim & Cindy Trosin's '65 GTO
Special thanks to the Grant and Vicki Sager and the Cherry Bowl Cruisers Car Club of Honor for making this show a success. See you next year!
