Cold Creek holding pond sludge is scheduled to be removed next spring. Prior to its removal, the old sludge that has been drying on land has been hauled out to make room for the new. The Cold Creek clean-up costs are shared by Beulah and Benzonia. The sign explaining the Cold Creek project has also been upgraded and is now readable.

Village Ordinance on Pets: "It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to keep, own, possess or harbor any dog, male or female, over the age of three months in the Village of Beulah, except such dogs are duly licensed and wearing the tag required by the law of this State. It shall be unlawful for any person to permit any pet kept, owned, possessed or harbored by him, her or them, to run at large. All pets shall be kept on a leash, unless a fence or curtailment is in place to keep the pet on the owner's property." The rest of the ordinance can be viewed on the Village website. This topic came up from a reader as a follow up to the rule of no animals, except service animals, on the lakeshore portion of the Trail.

Red trash bags are sold at Village Office, yellow at Stapletons (single bags) and Shop & Save (10/pkg). Pick-up for red bags is Friday, call 800 number on the yellow bag for pick up day.

Dave Egeler, Village worker, became seriously ill in mid-December and was hospitalized at Munson. He was med-flighted to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota a few days later. Dave was diagnosed with a brain infection which affected his ability to walk and carry out most independent life activities. He returned home at the end of December and is expected to make a full recover over the next few months. However, he currently needs full time care. Support for his family is appreciated in the form of cash, gas cards and grocery gift cards from Benzie County and Interlochen areas. Dave returns to Mayo in mid-January.

Recycling expanded: Recycling coordinator, Marlene Wood- Zylstra, has added a glass only container next to the containers. Cardboard can be recycled here as well as Benzie Central High School (at the back of the building) which is a fund raiser for the school. Everyone's efforts to recycle and keep

the area clean are needed and appreciated. The bins are for residents only, not for business or commercial use. Businesses that desire to use the recycling program should contact the coordinator to arrange a fee schedule & be issued a permit to participate. The bins are dumped on Monday and Friday. Additional sites are Honor at the Road Commission, Glens in Frankfort and behind the Wesco gas station in Benzonia. Contact Marlene by phone, 882-0554 or visit benzierecycler@benzieco.net
